FAQs
Southall removals — your questions answered
The things people ask us most about moving in and out of UB1 and UB2 — the practical stuff on access, services, quotes, storage and moving abroad.
Local & access
Moving in Southall
Which areas of Southall do you cover?
All of UB1 and UB2 — the Broadway and King Street, South Road and the station, Dormers Wells and the Havelock estate in the north, and Southall Green, Old Southall and Norwood Green to the south. We work the edges towards Hanwell and Greenford too, and cover the wider West London area for moves in and out.
Can you get a van onto the Broadway to load?
Yes, with a plan. The Broadway carries loading restrictions and heavy trade, so we work out the legal spot and the right window ahead of the day, and expect a carry from wherever the van can stop. It is the everyday reality of moving flats above the shops here, and we are set up for it.
My street is permit-parking only — is that a problem?
No. A lot of Southall is permit-controlled, and we plan the loading spot and timing in advance. For a larger house move where it helps, we can arrange a suspended bay so the crew is not carrying the length of the road. Tell us the address and we will already know the parking picture.
Do you move the older terraces around Southall Green?
Regularly. Bay-fronted Victorian and Edwardian terraces with narrow halls, steep stairs and side returns are some of our most common jobs. We protect the walls and floors, wrap furniture for the turns, and take big pieces apart where they will not go up whole.
Can you handle a flat above the shops or a top-floor walk-up?
Yes — those are among the moves we do most. We plan the stair or lift carry, check lift sizes and book loading bays where a block needs them, and bring the crew to carry safely up and down several flights. Awkward access is normal for us, not a surprise on the day.
Services & pricing
Services, crews and quotes
Do I need a full removal or just a man and van?
It depends on how much there is and where it is going. A single room, a few items or a studio is usually a man-and-van job; a fuller flat or a whole house is a proper removal. Tell us what you have and we will recommend the honest size rather than up-sell you.
Do the crew help load, or just drive?
They do the work — carrying, loading, securing the load and unloading at the other end. This is a proper removals and man-and-van service, not van hire. If a job clearly needs an extra pair of hands, we will say so before the day rather than leave you short.
Will you take furniture apart and put it back together?
Yes. Beds, wardrobes, flat-pack and anything that will not go through a doorway or up a stair whole is dismantled, moved and rebuilt at the new place. It is part of the service, not an extra we spring on you.
Can you pack for us?
We can pack the whole home, or just the kitchen and the fragile things while you do the rest. Strong cartons, wrap and tape are supplied, glassware and breakables are packed properly, and everything is labelled to a room so it lands where it should.
Do you charge for a quote or a survey?
No — both are free and come with no obligation. For a bigger house or a business move we would rather see the place, in person or by video, so the written quote reflects the real job instead of a guess.
How do I get a price?
Send the details through the quote form — both addresses, roughly what is moving, and anything that shapes the day. We read it and reply by email with a clear, no-obligation quote. We do not quote a figure on the phone that we cannot stand behind.
Storage & Europe
Storage & moving abroad
Do you offer storage in Southall?
Yes — clean, dry, secure storage as part of your move. It is ideal for a gap between homes, a house sale still going through, or the pause before an overseas move. Your goods are collected, held on a labelled inventory and delivered back by the same team, so there is no separate hire to arrange.
How long can you store our things?
From a short bridge of a week or two between completions to a longer spell while an overseas move or a house project sorts itself out. We agree the arrangement up front and you can extend or bring the delivery forward as your plans firm up.
Which European countries do you move to from Southall?
We run regular routes from Southall to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Each has its own page with the road route, the regions we reach and how the customs paperwork works. Other European destinations we look at case by case.
Do you handle the customs paperwork for a move abroad?
Yes. Since Brexit an EU move needs a customs declaration and a detailed inventory, and used household effects can usually come in under transfer-of-residence relief when you are moving your main home. We prepare the declarations and transit documents and tell you exactly what to provide.
Can you collect from outside Southall for a European move?
We can. Southall is our base, but we collect across London and, where it suits the route, from cities like Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh. If part of your move is elsewhere in the UK, we build it into the same run.
Do you move businesses as well as homes?
Yes — shops, salons, cash-and-carries, small offices and studios around the Broadway and South Road. We slot the move around your opening hours, box and label stock, fittings and IT, and agree the plan before the day so trading barely feels it.
Are my belongings covered while you move them?
Your goods are handled with care and covered in transit and in storage. The specifics of cover and any excess are set out in the booking terms, and we are happy to talk them through before you commit — just ask.
